Kaleb was not born to anyone special and it was sure as hell uncertain if he even had much of a future. Both of his parents were deadbeats who were hopelessly in love for about a month before alcohol dependency and drug use tore them apart. They were both young and had a toddler to take care of. This did not help to keep them together. Kaleb was kept under his father’s care since neither of his parents could decide who to take him and his father was the less strung out of the two. It was the right decision for his dad to keep him in the end. Even though he was never really like a father to him Kaleb still loved his dad very dearly. They became more like best friends than father and son and always managed to make things work. His father was brilliant when it came to tinkering or fixing thing and Kaleb instantly found himself attracted to the idea. With the way that the world was there was always need for someone who could make something better. Now don’t go thinking that Kaleb and his dad were some brilliant inventors or anything because they were anything but. They could just put stuff back together and make it work again. This was how Kaleb got his first computer. It was an old thing but since they basically lived out of abandoned homes and had no other concerns in the world Kaleb had a lot of time to figure it out. It would come in handy the older that he got. When Kaleb was in his early teens his father eventually found work that gave them a steady income and an actual place to live that had running water and electricity. His work, however, was far from being safe. In fact, his work was a bit (maybe completely) criminal. He smuggled things in and out of Utopia. Kaleb naturally worried like crazy when he found out. Sometimes his dad was gone days on end and every time he was certain that he would never be coming back – he always did. It wasn’t long before Kaleb was old enough to want to help out. Yeah, his first ever job was sitting in the back of shitty cars and climbing through sewage systems to get in and out of the great city. There were plenty of times that the two of them were in great dangers but they always pulled through and as a team got a good deal of work and goods to sell or trade. They did very well up until their luck ran out thanks to someone not being happy with the results of some pharmaceuticals brought back from Utopia. This ended in Kaleb’s dad taking a nasty break in his leg and hip. It also retired the older man. Despite his father having to retreat back to a life of solitude Kaleb stayed out and continued what he was doing. Now he did it to provide for the both of them. After a few failed runs though he was getting desperate and frustrated. Then he got this bright idea of tracking down the resistance and joining it. His knowledge of getting in and out of Utopia helped him to get in. He also had a rather smooth time in cracking some security systems or simply connecting to their computers. He’s quite wonderful at letting lose some computer viruses as well. And that was how he managed to show his use to the resistance. It also how he plans on making a name for him and his dad.
